Your Ultimate Glow Guide

You may notice that your skin changes seasonally, requiring a little more TLC in the colder, drier winter months. You also may notice your skin changing throughout your menstrual cycle, with more glowing skin around ovulation thanks to rising estrogen levels and some congestion around your menstrual phase thanks to hormone levels dropping.

In support of 24 hour ‘glazed donut’ glowing and hydrated skin, we’re covering some of our tips to increase that healthy glow. Tailoring your skincare routine is an excellent way to increase hydration, however, it’s important to focus on what you are eating/drinking in conjunction with topical support.

Hydrate your skin from the inside out.

Staying hydrated is incredibly important for a healthy skin barrier. We fully support having at least 3 different beverages on the go throughout the day, as long as it’s hydrating and packing in a few extra nutrients. We love electrolytes that support proper mineral balance and increase your body's hydration on a cellular level. Consuming a variety of fruits and vegetables is another great way to increase hydration and naturally occurring minerals that promote the glazed donut look (if you search Hailey Bieber Glazed donut, you will see what we are talking about). Wrinkles are more pronounced on drier skin, and even though we are pro healthy aging, if staying hydrated can reduce wrinkles and dark circles, who wouldn’t want to rock that plump, dewy skin look if they can? Our go to bevy’s at all times are water with a pinch of salt and some lemon juice, herbal teas that support our menstrual cycle and mineral rich broth (especially during winter months).

Stop sugar coating.

Sugar is inflammatory and contributes to a lot of our skin woes. Refined sugar strains our natural detox pathways leading to a variety of issues, particularly hormonal imbalances which can lead to inflammatory breakouts. The old adage, “you are what you eat” really does ring true, especially for skin health. Try incorporating more naturally sweet foods into your diet such as berries. Use dates, maple syrup or honey when you need to add a touch of sweetness to something. We promise you won’t miss refined sugars once you’ve made the switch. Our new Superseed Banana Split Chia Pudding is the perfect, naturally sweetened treat, full of healthy fats & fibre, as well as the Oat Carrot Date Muffins, Nut Butter Energy Bar and Cookies. All are great cleaner options for that sweet tooth.

Introduce healthy low inflammatory fats.

Healthy fats are amazing for our skin, both topically and internally. Omega-3 fatty acids are amazing for keeping skin hydrated and glowy. Fish is an amazing source of omega-3 fatty acids, along with flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts. Increasing healthy fats in your diet also helps you absorb fat-soluble vitamins that contribute to a glowing complexion as well! Our Mylk Balls Energy Bites and Fuel Good Smoothie are full of healthy fats and other skin supporting nutrients.

Increase food sources of collagen.

It’s not really a secret anymore, collagen-rich foods and drinks contribute to a healthy glow. Yes, we’re talking about bone broth again. Bone broth is rich in gelatin (a cooked down form of collagen) and healthy fats, both of which strengthen the skin barrier and hydrate the skin. It is also full of naturally occurring electrolytes, making it an excellent warming drink to enjoy on cooler days. Bonus, your digestion is also supported as collagen is incredibly healing for the lining of the gut, reducing inflammation and increasing nutrient absorption. Our Healing Bone Broth is perfect for sipping throughout the day while our Bone Broth Chicken Noodle Soup is a comforting and delicious way to incorporate bone broth into your diet.
